Bambolim: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Saturday suggested that the school teachers should practice Yoga for the students, every day for fifteen minutes, which will help their mental and physical fitness.

Participating in the International Yoga Day at Dr Shama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Bambolim near here on Saturday, the chief minister also said that Yoga is an integral part of Viksit Bharat 2047 mission, envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Sawant said that the school teachers are trained in practicing Yoga by various organisations. “I request these teachers to practice yoga in their school along with the students for at least 15 minutes on daily basis,” he said.

The chief minister said that regular Yoga practice will help the students in their concentration and they will also remain mentally and physically fit.

“Fit India is a part of mission Viksit Bharat 2047. We want that every youth should be physically fit. We should not do yoga only because teacher or yoga trainer forces us. We should practice Yoga for our own and our family,” he said.

Sawant said that Yoga Day is celebrated across 180 countries in the world as a part of mission spearheaded by PM Narendra Modi.

“Yoga is a gift from India to the world. This is biggest gift that India has given to the world. We have brought together the world through yoga and we are proud of it,” the chief minister said.

He said that Yoga crosses all the boundaries including geographical, political and spiritual boundaries.

“Yoga practice should not be for one day but it should be part of every day life. As daily yoga practitioner, I can say that happiness and wellness will increase. It will also help on physical and mental fitness,” he added.

Sawant said that one should dedicate half-an-hour every day for Yoga which is required for our fitness.

Speaking further, he said that the non communicable diseases like Blood Pressure, diabetes and cancer are increasing in every household.

“At least, one patient with diabetes or BP is there in every household. To avoid this situation, one should practice yoga,” he said.
