CM orders inquiry into tiger death case

Panaji: As preliminary inquiry reveals poisoning as cause of death of tiger, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant orders thorough inquiry into the case.

In a statement is Chief Minister Office (CMO) said that “Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is deeply pained & concerned by the death of a tiger in Mahadayi wildlife sanctuary”.

“The preliminary investigation has revealed poisoning as the cause of death. Therefore, CM has ordered a thorough inquiry in the matter,” CMO said.

The carcass of a tiger was found inside Mahadayi Wildlife Sanctuary on Sunday. It was found in the jungle adjoining Guleli village in North Goa’s Sattari taluka.

The Forest Department has registered a case under Wildlife Protection Act against unknown persons in the connection with death of tiger.
