Panaji: The Congress Legislative Party (CLP) meeting held on Monday discussed various issues plaguing the State and the need to raise them during the forthcoming Assembly session.
Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, MLA Carlos Ferreira, and MLA Altone D’Costa were present.
Alemao said that the BJP government has failed on all fronts and could not even protect the image of the State.
Today, what we see in Goa is people dying in nightclubs, an increase in the supply of narcotics, deaths due to accidents, and destruction of the environment. People are fed up with this government. We will raise the people’s voice in the Assembly session and hold the government accountable for its failures, Alemao said.
He said that the BJP has always hoodwinked people by giving false assurances during elections. Where are the three free LPG cylinders? Where is the unemployment dole? It has failed to fulfil every promise that was given to attract voters, Alemao said.
Congress leader Alemao said that it was also decided to call a meeting of Opposition MLAs in the first week of the New Year to plan a united strategy to grill the BJP government.
Today, people’s aspiration is to see a strong and united Opposition to protect Goa. We are here to fulfil the aspirations of Goa and stop illegalities, corruption, and hafta vasuli taking place in the State. Hafta vasuli and corruption are allowing illegalities in the State, and the results were seen in the Arpora nightclub incident. People are dying, but this insensitive government is busy with collections, Alemao said.
He added that the CLP also discussed the results of the Zilla Panchayat elections and that there would be a systematic plan in the future to stop the division of votes.
