Chyawanprash is one of the anti-ageing supplements, which is purely herbal in nature. It has Amla as its main ingredient, which is a powerful antioxidant and immunobooster.
History of Chyawanprash
Puloma and Sage Bhrigu were a happily married couple. Puloma conceived and was preparing herself for motherhood. But she was attacked by a Demon(in today’s world we can call them viruses/ bacteria) during her pregnancy because of this there was Premature delivery of baby boy.They named the boy as Chyawana
Chyawana was interested in the spiritual path but was afflicted with early ageing and many disorders.
He prayed and Ashwini Kumaras , Divine Twin Doctors came to his help. They administered a Prasha – herbal jam (linctus), by which Chyawana Maharshi got rid of all his diseases and early ageing.
So, he became young again and continued his life successfully. The Prasha (herbal jam) that revived the health of Chyawana sage is called Chyawanprash.

In today’s world due to huge demand on immunity boosting medicine there are more chances of getting altered Chavanprash so here I’m going to tell you how yourself can check the genuine product you are taking.
There are simple tests to know the quality of Chyawanprash.
1.Smell – Smell of Cinnamon, Cardamom and Long pepper.
2.Taste – Spicy taste, more sourness and less of sweetness.
3.Water test – When a piece of Chyawanprash is put into water, it should sink immediately. The particles should not spread in water.
4.Consistency –when you take it from jar with spoon it should leave a thread like structure hanging out, it should be Pulpy, semisolid paste. Neither too solid, nor too watery.
Such a Chyawanprash of a reputed company will be of good quality.
Milk need not be taken soon along with Chyawanprash. Taking milk in any other time is fine

Recently I mate some patients who had a doubt that Chyavanaprash intake cause weight gain!!! I told them that
Just one to two spoonfuls of Chyawanprash everyday cannot be considered as a cause for weight gain. It contains ghee …alright, but the amount of ghee taken per day with one spoon of chawanprash will be very minimal.
In Children
Chyawanprash be given to a but you need to adjust the dosage by consulting your family Ayurvedic Dr.
In general, chyawanprash can be given to a child from 5 years onwards.
Chyawanprash has potent rejuvenating and immune boosting properties, hence it is useful to promote immunity against many viral infections. So, theoretically it can be said that taking Chyawanprash regularly can help with immunity. It is a common practice to take Chyawanprash when there is a threat of any communicable disease, especially involving fever, cold, cough and respiratory symptoms.

Well, Chyawanprash in itself is a completely herbal product. Its formula and dosage form has bean determined and sealed by ancient Ayurvedic scholars, many years ago. It is famous because it is ancient and is effective. If you take common chyawanprash, the process of digestion and absorption starts at the level of mouth. It is a jam and starts melting at the level of mouth, with saliva media.
Coming to Sonachandi(!!??), or any chyawanprash variants – the formula has been sealed by the Masters, and it is the final formula that is good for use. Who has done research on the effect of additionally added ingredients with the already existing ones? So, it is better to prefer the original chyawanprash over any of its variants and importantly “everything which gloves need not to be Gold!!!”
It is nothing more than just a business trick.
It is a product categorized under ‘Rasayana’ – rejuvenation and anti-ageing.
Dosage
You should lick 1 to 2 tablespoon, on empty stomach early morning before breakfast avoiding any liquid diet with it for at least 5 to 10 minutes.
Chyawanprash is taken in the morning, 15 minutes before breakfast when the digestion strength is more, a maximum amount of phyto-nutrients from Chyawanprash will be absorbed into the body, making the immunity a lot stronger.
Unless advised by a doctor, it is not a good idea to take more than once a day , because once a day is more than good to take maximum advantage of it.
In women:-
If the periods are normal with moderate bleeding, Chyawanprash can be continued during periods. But if the periods are heavy, then better to avoid it only during periods.
