Child Welfare Committees short staffed, seeks intervention of minister Vishwajit Rane

Panaji: The state-government appointed Child Welfare Committees of both the districts are facing acute staff shortage. The chairpersons of both the districts have now written to concerned authorities including minister Vishwajit Rane seeking his intervention in the issue.

The Child Welfare Committees  have been functioning without enough staff thereby affecting its functioning. After frequent verbal complaints, both the district committees have finally put it up in writing to Director of Women and Child Welfare department, Secretary and minister Vishwajit Rane.

Sources in the department stated that the members have been verbally complaining in the past but no solution was provided to them.

The committees are have said that they don’t have having enough staff to do the administrative work thereby forcing the respective members to do the duty, besides their original mandate.

As far as North Goa committee is concerned, the steno is unwell, LDC is posted on duty of BLO and available peon is transferred to Apna Ghar.

In both the committees there is no staff to handle inwards and outwards.

The committees have requested Rane to intervene in the matter or pay surprise visit to the place to personally verify the affairs here.
