Panaji: Another trouble seems to be lurking on the controversial restaurant at Assagao linked to the daughter of Union Minister Smriti Irani with State Town and Country Planning Department directing its officials to inspect the facility allegedly constructed by landfilling on a tenanted land.
The restaurant is in the news for the alleged violation of Excise laws. Social activist and lawyer Aires Rodrigues, who had filed a case of Excise law violation, has also alleged that the “Silly Soul Café and Bar” was constructed by illegally filling the land at Assagao village.
Rodrigues on July 28 had filed complaint with State Town and Country Planning Department over the alleged illegalities.
He had said that the restaurant was constructed by involving in change of land use and filling of low lying tenanted field in rank contravention of law to erect the now controversial restaurant.
On Saturday, Chief Town Planner Rajesh Naik has asked Senior Town Planner of North Goa district to “inspect the site and take urgent necessary action as per the law.”
