Panaji: In the first ever, Chicalim villagers have proposed their own Coastal Zone Management Plan taking into consideration various features related to the area.
The extra-ordinary Gram Sabha which was held on Sunday discussed this crucial plan.
The plan was drafted considering various features of the local rich biodiversity, heritage, mangrove sites, fishing villagers, fish breeding sites, natural breeding sites of window pane oysters and the fishing as well as tribal settlements in the village.
While rejecting the CZMP plan proposed by Dept of Environment, Govt of Goa. The extra ordinary Gram Sabha also further unanimously resolved that the Goa Govt.
It was decided to send this proposed plan of the Chicalim villagers to MOEF for incorporating the same in the overall CZMP plan of Goa.
