Porvorim:Goa government told the House that there is no official correspondence received from the centre declaring Goa as ‘Fisheries Hub.’

Union Minister Giriraj Singh last month had  said that Goa has the potential to become the fisheries hub of the country after holding  discussion with Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and State Fisheries Minister Filipe Rodrigues. The union ministry had announced a holistic investment of Rs 400 crore for the fisheries sector in Goa.

“No official correspondence is received from

the Government of India regarding the

declaration of the Goa as fisheries hub,” Rodrigues told the House on Tuesday during the ongoing Budget Session.

He was responding to a question tabled by MGP MLA Sudin Dhavalikar.

Rodrigues said the Central Government has sanctioned

Rs 1193.49 Lakhs under Centrally Sponsored

Scheme of “Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada

Yojana” for the year 2020-21.  “However, Rs.

596.74 Lakhs is released till date,” he added.

Rodrigues said that the Department has requested all the

Fishermen Societies/Associations to submit the

proposal for creation of infrastructure such as

fishing jetties, floating jetties, fishing ramps, net

mending, fish markets etc. “Further, based on the

feasibility of the site, the Department will take

up the proposals,” he added.

  1. Fishermen & Farmers are today neglected by the Congress+BJP Government in Goa. They should approach AAP Farmers Wing & AAP Fishermen Wing for help in Goa. AAP will definitely help them as they are Common Man Party Aam Aadmi Party.
