Porvorim: Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte has appealed Porvorim residents including Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandals to celebrate upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi “only for one-and-half day.”
Khaunte appealed people to refrain from taking the situation to granted considering the rising number of COVID19 positive cases, and also deaths due to this virus.
The MLA said that 106 covid19 positive cases are reported from Porvorim area along while 120 more reports are pending.
He alleged that the District Administration has completely failed to handle the situation and Deputy Collector has also turned inefficient.
Khaunte said that the people should take care of their own self and also family during Ganesh Chaturthi.
He appealed people to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi only for one and half day.
‘This year we need to take our own responsibility. When deaths due to corona are staring at us, we need to take the precautions,” he said.
The MLA said that the families of people who have lost their lives to covid infection are going through trauma.
“Do conduct test on your own that is required to keep your family safe. We should not be responsible for carrying corona back to our home,” he said.
