New Delhi: BJP Minister Nilesh Cabral today hinted that certain elements within his party were unwilling for resumption of mining in Goa.
Cabral while addressing the protest of Goa Mining People’s Front at Ram Leela Maidan in Delhi said that his presence here might hurt some people.
“I am not bothered if my presence here hurts anybody. You may even remove me from the minister’s post,” he said but later when asked whom he was referring, Cabral maintained silence.
“Some people might not like me being here,” he said. On asked further whether BJP is not interested in resumption of mining, Cabral said “BJP in Goa is interested.”
The minister also said that he is ready to face even Prime Minister or Union Law Minister for supporting mining dependents.
“We are not asking you to bring sky down. We want that the mining leases in Goa should be differentiated from rest of the leases in the country. We are asking to bring in small amendment to mining law,” he said.
Cabral questioned “if you don’t find solution in Delhi, then where will you find the solution.”
“Our people are suffering due to closure of mining. Even our children are suffering,” he said.
Cabral was the first politician from Goa to visit the mining dependents.
