Panaji: Amongst other candidates, BJP will announce their face for Panaji by-election, this evening, who will fight the seat which was represented by former CM Manohar Parrikar.
BJP’s Central Election Commission will meet in Delhi today to announce second list of Lok Sabha candidates and also faces for by-election.
While BJP Goa Unit President Vinay Tendulkar has confirmed that Shripad Naik and Narendra Sawaikar will retain their seats, Dayanand Sopte and Subhash Shirodkar will be contesting from Mandrem and Shiroda constituencies.
The curiosity is on Mapusa seat where son of Francis D’Souza, Joshua, is a front runner while Mapusa Municipal Council chairman Sudhir Kandolkar is also in the race.
There is no clarity on who would be BJP’s candidate for Panaji by election. Though there were rumours that Babush Monserratte would join BJP and contest from Panaji, there was no formal confirmation to it.
