Panaji: Bharatiya Janata Party is likely to face rebellion to a great extend during the upcoming Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) election.

Several BJP leaders are upset over the faces in Babush Monserratte panel as they are finding that the party cadres are left out.

Former Mayor Surendra Furtado is trying to take benefit out of the rebellion through his front “We Ponjekar”.

Furtado said that the leaders from all the parties including BJP, Congress, AAP, Revolutionary Goans and others have joined hands to form the panel.

He refused to elaborate on who are supporting him from the BJP while also he said that his decision on contesting the election would be announced at the right time.

Sources stated that the several veteran Panaji and Taleigao BJP leaders are eager to help Furtado. Some of the leaders, who are arch rivals of Monserratte, are also joining hands with him.

When contacted, former Panaji MLA Siddharth Kunkolienkar said that he would be supporting “good candidates” during the upcoming election.

“We want to give our city in the hands of good people for next 5 years,” he said.

The former MLA said that party Goa unit President Sadanand Shet Tanavade and CM Pramod Sawant has already announced that municipal elections are not on party line, so he is free to support candidate of his own choice.
