Panaji: After initial reluctance, the family members of slain BJP leader Sonali Phogat has agreed to give their consent to conduct autopsy on her body by team of forensic experts from Goa Medical College and Hospital.
Sonali’s nephew Mohinder Phogat told GOA NEWS HUB on Thursday morning that they will give consent to conduct postmortem on the deceased’s body.
“We have been told by the police that the FIR in connection with this case would be filed after conducting the postmortem,” he said.
Mohinder said that the family has given consent to conduct the postmortem on Thursday but with the rider that entire procedure of autopsy would be videographed.
GMCH has already formed a panel of two doctors to conduct postmortem on the slain’s body.
Brother of Sonali, Rinku Dhaka, had told reporters on Wednesday that they will allow the postmortem only after Goa police files FIR against two men who are suspected to be behind her death.
The GMCH officials said that they are waiting for the green signal from the State Police to go ahead with the postmortem.
The hospital has already formed a panel of two forensic experts who would be conducting postmortem on the mortal remains of Phogat.
The BJP leader was brought in dead at St Anthony Hospital at Anjuna on Tuesday morning. Police have already registered a case of unnatural death in this regards.
The family members of Phogat have filed a formal complaint against her PA Sudhir Sangwan and her colleague Sukhwinder Wasi accusing them of murdering her.
Sonali’s brother, Rinku, talking to reporters, had claimed this as a pre-planned murder.
