Panaji: Bharatiya Janata Party in Goa on Thursday accused the Congress of trying to mislead the population by claiming to be a victim in the National Herald case.
BJP Goa President Damodar Naik told a press conference that the Congress party has been protesting against the chargesheet filed against its leaders – Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi – in connection with the National Herald case.
Naik said that the case was filed in 2012 by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy when the UPA was in power. “The Congress leaders unsuccessfully tried to get respite from the lower courts to the Supreme Court,” he said.
The BJP leader claimed that the Congress, a political party, was found to be involved in money laundering in this case. Naik alleged that the Congress was treating national property as their personal asset.
He said the National Herald scam is worth ₹2,500 crore. Naik also stated that the Congress party is issuing threatening statements to the Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax Department, which he condemned.
The BJP leader said that his party will go door-to-door with pamphlets to explain the multi-crore scam allegedly perpetrated by the Gandhi family and the Congress party.
