PANAJI: Ajay Gupta, a co-owner of Birch by Romeo Lane at Arpora nightclub, on Thursday moved for regular bail before the local court in Mapusa town, North Goa.
Gupta was arrested in New Delhi by Goa Police after the club caught fire on December 6, killing 25 people.
The accused, who is currently in the custody of Anjuna Police, has applied for regular bail before the District Judge in Mapusa town. He would be represented by senior advocate Rohan Desai.
Court sources stated that the bail application would be taken up for hearing later during the day on Thursday, after which notices would be issued to Goa Police seeking their response.
Goa Police have arrested eight people, including three owners of the club — Ajay Gupta, Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra — in connection with the case.
Others, including Rajiv Modak (Corporate General Manager), Priyanshu Thakur (Gate Manager), Rajveer Singhania (Bar Manager), Vivek Singh (General Manager) and Bharat Karan Singh Kohli (Employee), have also been arrested by the police.
