Panaji: Bhagat Singh Koshyari, who is also the Governor of Maharashtra,was sworn-in as the Governor of Goa at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday.
Chief Justice of Bombay High Court Dipankar Datta administered him the Oath of Office. The Governor- also received the Guard of Honour from Goa Police plateau.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Member of Parliament Vinay Tendulkar, Dy. Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavalekar and others were present on the occasion.
The Governor took oath in Konkani.
As per state government press release Koshyari who assumed the office of the Governor of Maharashtra in September 2019 brings with him a vast and varied experience of public service.
“In 1997 he was appointed as a Member of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council. After the formation of the State of Uttarakhand, he was appointed as Minister of Energy, Irrigation, Law and Legislative Affairs,” the press note adds.
He was also appointed as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand from 2001-02. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Uttarakhand in November 2008 and held the position till 2014.
Meanwhile, outgoing Governor Satya Pal Malik left Goa in the morning.
