Panaji: Transport Minister Sudin Dhavalikar today said that licenses of those driving government vehicles including the KTC buses will be suspended for six months if caught using phone while driving.
The decision was taken during the State Road Safety Council meeting chaired by Dhavalikar today.
“Driving licenses of KTC drivers, state carriage drivers and those driving government vehicles will be suspended for six months if they are found speaking on mobile while driving. We have been getting several complaints and it’s time to act,” Dhavalikar told reporters after the meeting.
Meanwhile, the transport department data revealed that 187 fatal accidents have been reported in the State for the first 10 months of 2018, which shows a decreasing trend compared to 2017 that reported 255 deaths during the same period.
