Panaji: Bal Bhavan is at the center of controversy after renowned dance choreographer Sudesh Salgaonkar released a video criticizing Director Sashikant Punaji, claiming his appointment is illegal. Salgaonkar has been running Western dance classes at Bal Bhavan, providing students with exposure at the international level.
The controversy began when Salgaonkar’s organization, despite successfully conducting classes at Bal Bhavan, was halted. He has accused Punaji of stopping the classes without providing any valid reason.
Going a step further, Salgaonkar has stated that Punaji’s appointment as Director is also illegal and has demanded action against him. As an alumnus of Bal Bhavan, Salgaonkar has called for an investigation into Punaji’s appointment.
In a video posted on his Facebook account, Salgaonkar included footage of former Director Dayanand Chaudikar, who certified that Salgaonkar’s group was doing a commendable job at Bal Bhavan and providing valuable exposure to the students.
He emphasized that the Western dance classes were not being conducted at Bal Bhavan, which is why they were initiated.
