Agassaim/Verna: When Russian national Shcherbakov Maksim climbed up the pillar of the new Zuari bridge, sometime last week, this was not the first time that he challenged Indian laws.
Earlier in April 2021, he was arrested by Mumbai police for climbing the Worli-Bandra sea link and was even investigated for terror links.
Dilip Buildcon Limited which is currently maintaining the structure will be filing a police complaint against the Russian for encroachment into their property and also endangering human lives.
DBL Vice President Atul Joshi told GNH that the company has taken serious cognizance of the video that has gone viral. We will file a police complaint against the offender, he said.
Joshi said that the Russian had crossed the crash barriers and then railing to reach to the pillar, where he climbed. He said that there are no security guards posted at these pillars as it is beyond imagination that someone would do such dangerous stunt.
While DBL may file the police complaint, it is interesting to note that Agassaim and Verna police station will have to take a call in whose jurisdiction this pillar falls. Accordingly, the police station will lodge the complaint.
Back to the Russian, this offender in his post on instagram has openly challenged the Indian laws questioning “Is India strict with law?”.
This is despite the fact that he was earlier booked by Mumbai police in the same offence.
All eyes are now on Goa Police how they will treat this offence.
