Panaji: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Goa on Tuesday advised Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) youth leaders in the state to learn leadership qualities from former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.

Addressing a press conference in Panaji, AAP Goa Vice President Chetan Kamat targeted Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Goa President Tushar Kelkar over his statement against AAP MLA Venzy Viegas. Kelkar had accused Viegas of trespassing into the BJP office during last week’s protest against the assault on social activist Rama Kankonkar and warned that BJYM has one lakh members.

Kamat said AAP is not afraid of such threats. He suggested Kelkar read Atal Behari Vajpayee: A Man of All Seasons by Kingshuk Nag to understand how leaders should conduct themselves. “If you want, we will send you this book,” Kamat remarked, adding that Vajpayee’s example highlighted dignity and leadership.

He said leaders like Vajpayee and former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam remain inspirational figures.

Meanwhile, AAP Youth Wing President Rohan Naik said the party has filed a police complaint against Kelkar for issuing threats. He questioned whether BJYM members were being led by the right person. Naik further alleged that BJP’s focus on the trespassing issue was meant to divert attention from the brutal assault on Rama Kankonkar in Caranzalem, for which seven accused, including history-sheeter Zenito Cardoso, have been arrested.
