Panaji – Former Union Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju will be sworn in as the new Governor of Goa on Saturday, July 26, at a ceremony to be held at Raj Bhavan.
According to a state government spokesperson, the swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for 11:30 am at Raj Bhavan. Several dignitaries, including Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, are expected to attend the event.
Meanwhile, a warm farewell was accorded to the outgoing Governor, P. S. Sreedharan Pillai, on Wednesday, July 24. Before departing for his hometown, the Governor participated in a “Financial Aid Distribution” ceremony held at the new Durbar Hall in Raj Bhavan.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant acknowledged the outgoing Governor’s contributions, stating that he had made Raj Bhavan more accessible to the people and extended crucial support for the effective governance of the state.
Addressing the gathering, P. S. Sreedharan Pillai expressed gratitude for the cooperation and affection he received from the people of Goa during his tenure. He extended special thanks to the Chief Minister for supporting Raj Bhavan’s various initiatives.
Before his departure, the Governor distributed financial aid to 38 cancer and dialysis patients through the Governor’s discretionary fund.
