Panaji : Antonasio (Babush) Monseratte said anyone can contest elections anywhere. Montseratte’s comment came after his close companion, Uday Madkaikar and Tony Rodrigues were seen at International Centre Goa (ICG), Dona Paula on Thursday where Congress’s Election observer P. Chidambaram was holding a series of meetings.
Monseratte said he is unaffected by the former Panaji CCP Mayor Uday Madkaikar joining Goa Congress ” I Am not getting elected unopposed, If I were then I would have said that it was a setback for me” he said.
Moseratte also said that he is uninfluenced by his CCP councillor Tony Rodrigues joining Congress, who may contest elections from Taligao.
“Ultimately it is people who will vote for these candidates. Maybe these candidates want to grow more in politics, I wish them good luck,” Monseratte concluded.
On Thursday former CCP Mayor Uday Madkaikar and CCP Corporator Tony Rodrigues had come to ICG, Dona Paula to meet P Chidambaram who is in Goa to plan an election strategy for Congress in upcoming assembly polls.
