Porvorim: Goa government on Wednesday announced that they will conduct ‘antigen testing’ on the people who are arriving in the state from across the border from Thursday onwards.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant also said that the antibody testing at Mangor Hill area of Vasco town in South Goa, which has been declared as containment zone, has began on Wednesday.
Sawant also said that the state will allow the home quarantine facility for the COVID-19 patients, if entire family has been infected with no symptoms.
Briefing mediapersons after State cabinet meeting, Sawant said that the “antigen testing” would be introduced for the people who are arriving in the state from other states.
Till date, all those who arrive were subjected to swab testing and had to wait in state run quarantine facility till reports are declared. Those who refuse to get tested had to undergo 14 days compulsory home quarantine.
Sawant also said that the antibody testing has began at Mangor Hill, a slum area in Vasco town, which is hotbed of COVID-19 infection. Mangor Hill was the first area to be declared as containment zone earlier last month after spike in cases was witnessed from there.
The chief minister said that the deaths due to COVID-19 infection in the state due to co morbid condition of the patients. “I appeal all the people to take special precaution as far as people with co morbid condition are concerned,” he said.
Sawant said that the three day long lockdown imposed in the state during last weekend was successful.
He also stated that Janata Curfew which is currently imposed in the state banning movement of people from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. has also received good response. “We can see that only 20 per cent of the traffic is on the roads. We have allowed only essential services to ply during Janata Curfew,” he said.
