Panaji: The Government is sympathetic towards the demands of Anganwadi workers said Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant. Assuring the Anganwadi workers he said, soon his Government will extend retirement benefits to the eligible Anganwadi workers in the state. Chief Minister Dr. Sawant was speaking after launching state level Poshan Maha Programme in presence of Women And Child Development Minister, Shri Vishwajeet Rane at Ravindra Bhavan, Sankhali, today.
The function was organized by the Directorate of Women and Child Development (WCD) along with other 15 Government Departments. Present on the occasion were Secretary, WCD Shri C. R. Garg, Director, WCD, Shri Deepak Desai, Councillor SankhaliMunicipalCouncil, Shri Anand Kanekar and others.
Smart phones were distributed to the Anganwadi workers at the hands of Chief Guest. Micro nutrient health supplement diet “Choco Powder” was also given to the children of various Anganwadis.
Dr. Sawant said that such programmes will strive to reduce the level of under-nutrition, anaemia and low birth weight babies in the state. The initiative behind having such programme will also create synergy, ensure better monitoring, issue alerts for timely action and will encourage the state to perform, guide and supervise to achieve the targeted goals, the Chief Minister added.
Speaking on the occasion Women and Child Development Minister, Shri Vishwajeet Rane appealed to the Anganwadi workers to create data base with the help of allotted Smart phones to complete the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He said Goa should achieve the set target in stipulated time period.
Shri Rane speaking further said that to impart quality education to the children at grass root level, the government is in process of implementing e- learning techniques at Anganwadi level, for which the government is thinking of building 100 new Anganwadi buildings in the state.
The Health and WCD Secretary, Shri C. R. Garg, also spoke on the occasion. Earlier Shri Deepak Desai, Director, Directorate of Women and Child Development welcomed the guests. Smt. Nair compered the function and Smt Shweta Parulekar, CDPO, Bicholim proposed vote of thanks. Later, a rally was flagged off by the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Shri Vishwajeet Rane.
The Poshan Maah will run for one month and valedictory function will be held on September 1, 2019.
