Quepem: In a major arrest, Quepem police on Wednesday arrested notorious criminal Imran Bepari in connection with the assault on journalist Amit Naik.
Bepari, a resident of St. Cruz, was arrested by Quepem police on Wednesday after the interrogation of three other accused — Renito Francis Fernandes (Vasco), Mandar Shridhar Prabhu (Ponda), and David Joaquim Diniz (Ponda).
The investigation in this case is conducted by Police Inspector Arjun Sangodkar. Amit was assaulted on the night of September 13 when he was returning to his home at Netravali on the seventh day of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
While the motive behind the assault on him is yet to be ascertained, the arrest of Imran Bepari has confirmed the angle of someone giving a contract to assault Amit Naik.
