Panaji: Public Works Department Minister Deepak Pauskar on Tuesday said that all the roads in the state except national highways will be have potholes filled by coming Monday.
Pauskar said that the department has taken up work of filling the potholes on war-footing with the deadline to complete all the work by coming Monday. He said that the staff is working round the clock, including nights to repair the roads.
The minister earlier had promised the state legislative assembly that the potholes from the road would be cleared by Ganesh Chaturthi festival. He said that he could not keep the assurance because of the incessant rains that gripped the state.
“We will be able to repair all the state highways, District roads, village roads and municipal roads by Monday. Since the rains have given respite, we will be starting the work to repair the roads,” he said.
The minister said that the potholes on National Highway would be repaired within next 8-10 days. “The orders have been issued to the contractors that once they build or repair the roads on national highway, it is their responsibility to ensure that they are maintained for certain period of time,” he said.
