All seven patients test positive for COVID-19 infection at GMC lab

Panaji: All the seven samples of suspected COVID-19 patients have tested positive for the confirmatory test at Goa medical college and hospital’s virology lab.

State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Thursday said that the results on the samples which were tested at GMCH’s virology lab has come positive.

He said that all the patients are shifted to specially designed COVID-19 hospital for their treatment.

All the seven cases were tested positive during the TrueNat test (rapid test) conducted on them. The samples were sent for testing at GMCH’s virology laboratory.

A Goan origin family which with its five members and a drive had arrived from Mumbai is amongst the patients which has tested positive, a senior health department official said.

The patients also includes Gujarat based driver who had arrived here for delivering essential goods on his truck.

An official said that one year old girl child of the family has also tested positive. Out of total patients, three are females, he added.

Goa was declared as Green Zone by the centre on May 01 after all the seven cases which were detected in the state had recovered.

The state government has opened up majority of the economic activities including industries in the state.

Chief minister Pramod Sawant had even announced holding of SSC and HSSC examination in the state which were kept on hold after COVID-19 outbreak.
