Panaji: Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly Rajesh Patnekar has said that all the Bills during forthcoming Assembly session would be passed “only” with the consent of the members.

Patnekar said that the Business Advisory Committee which met on Wednesday resolved to curtail the session to “one day” as per the discussion held during all party meeting.

The Speaker said that the fear of opposition that the bills would be passed without taking them into confidence or discussion is unfound.

“We are going to take all the members into confidence while passing the Bills,” he said.

The Speaker also confirmed that Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat has given his dissent note objecting to the passing of Budget during one day session.

“We have admitted his dissent,” the Speaker said, without elaborating further.

He said it would be “short and sweet” assembly.

Patnekar said that there would be restriction on the number of people attending the Session due to current pandemic situation.

“We will not be allowing visitors while ministers and MLAs attending the session will be allowed to carry only certain number of staff,” he said.

Patnekar said that the protocol for the following would be declared soon.
