Panaji : Airport Authority of India, Goa International Airport performed a ceremony for the airport terminal building extension project on June 7. This project in Vasco is to be built in an approximately site area of 56m x 80m, the extension shall have Ground + 2 floors with Basement, adding 18,300 sqm of built up area to the existing 65,000 sqm area.
This project is expected to increase the passenger handling capacity by 13 million passengers per annum. The building has an estimated cost of 255.69 crore, it will have the amenities of an airport.
The tender for its work is awarded via EPC mode to M/s Vascon Engineers Ltd and is expected to be completed by the end of 2022. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and CLimate Change, Govt of India has given a green signal to the project by granting an environmental clearance on 25 May 2021.
The press note informed that since the passenger footfall is expected to increase in a Post Covid19 Scenario this extension of the building will cater the increased demand.
