Panaji: A team of medical experts from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi on Tuesday visited Manipal Hospital where Union AYUSH minister Shripad Naik is being treated for COVID-19 infection.
A senior health department official said that the on behest of Prime Minister’s office and request of Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, Dr Randeep Guleria, Director, AIIMS, New Delhi had deputed a team of specialist for reviewing the care and management of Naik who is currently admitted at Manipal Hospital, Dona Paula.
AIIMS’ Dr S Rajeshwari, Head of Department of Anesthesiology and HoD Pulmonary Medicines arrived at 2.30 p.m. from Delhi and met Naik at the hospital.
“They reviewed the care and treatment plan of Naik and were satisfied with all the treatment protocols and care provided to him at the hospital,” he said.
An official said that Dr Rajeshwari has appreciated the timely management with antiviral drugs, High Flow Nasal Canula Oxygen and along with Convalescent Plasma therapy, which according to her has turned the tide in the favour of recovery.
Meanwhile, State Chief Minister Pramod sawant also visited the hospital.
