Agassaim: Agassaim police arrested one Gautam Subhash Asnotkar (24) for cheating to the amount of Rs 6 lakh under the pretext of providing a government job.
Agassaim police have registered case under section 420, 506 of Indian Penal Code against the accused for defrauding complainant Rweff Teotonio De Souza.
As per the complaint the accused who is a residence of Baman Bhat, Merces induced his father to pay Rs 6 lakh under the pretext of providing a government job to his son.
The complaint mentions that after receiving the payment through different cheques, the accused started avoiding the complainant and refused to repay the sum.
The accused also threatened the complainant with dire consequences, when he asked for the refund of his money.
Police Inspector Vikram Naik said that the accused was apprehended at Curchorem and brought to Agassaim police station, where he was placed under arrest.
The investigation is in progress under supervision of DySP Sudesh Naik and SP Nidhin Valsan.
