Panaji: Congress has began preparing for the upcoming Parliamentary Election for both the seats in the State with the party planning ‘Jan Sampark Abhiyaan’ from January 05 onwards.
The party is already mid-way through its “Jan Akrosh Abhiyaan” launched since last week to demand restoration of Governance in the State in the wake of ill-health of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee and Congress Legislative Party on Saturday met in Panaji to discuss strategy for upcoming Parliamentary poll. Goa has two Lok Sabha constituencies.
“Congress party will win all the upcoming elections in the State considering the mood of the people. The collapse of Administration and CM continuing in the chair despite his ill health has made the people of Goa upset,” All India Congress Committee Secretary A Chellakumar told reporters after the meeting.
Chellaukar was addressing the press conference in presence of Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar and former CM Digambar Kamat.
He said that many organizational matters were discussed during the meeting and decisions were taken to strengthen the party at grass root level in preparation for expected by-elections in Shiroda and Mandrem Assembly Constituencies and also Lok Sabha polls.
Two Assembly constituencies have fallen vacant after both the Congress MLAs resigned from the House and the party to join BJP.
After the Jan Akrosh meeting, it was decided to launch the Jan Sampark Abhiyaan from Jan 05, 2019 wherein Congress workers will visit the houses in different Constituencies and expose the mistakes and failures of BJP government at Centre and the State,” Chellakumar said.
Former CM Digambar Kamat said that Jan Aakrosh agitation which the party has started represent the sentiments and anger of the people for the absence of governance since last 9 months.
He announced culminations of Jan Aakrosh on December 20, at historic Lohia Maidan in Margao with a massive gathering.
