Panaji: AAP Goa President Amit Palekar on Monday invited state chief minister Pramod Sawant and BJP Goa President Damodar Naik for a public debate after the ruling party responded to the post on X by Arvind Kejriwal by calling him “ignorant.”
Kejriwal on Saturday had posted on X the statement that Goa has turned into lawless state under the BJP rule. The former Delhi Chief minister had pointed out to the increasing crime in the state to support his statement.
Responding to his post, BJP Goa’s X handle had posted: “Hey ignorant, Stop talking about our state without knowing the facts.”
The post further stated “You ruined Delhi when you were in power. Now you’re trying to destroy Punjab. Drugs are everywhere, crimes happen openly on the streets, corruption is growing, and mafia rule is getting stronger. Fix these problems.”
“We hope you’re enjoying your new Sheeshmahal in Punjab, paid for by taxpayers’ money. Stop wasting time commenting on our state,” the BJP Goa said.
Following the BJP post, AAP Goa President Amit Palekar on Monday held a press conference in Panaji, appealing Goa CM Pramod Sawant and Party President Damodar Naik to come for open public debate on the law and order situation in the state.
In a press conference, Palekar, who was flanked by party’s state General Secretary Shrikrishna Parab, said read out the list of crimes including gang wars, murders, harassment to tourists that has reported in the state recently.
He alleged that there is no control over police machinery.
Palekar said that the coastal belt of Calangute in North Goa witnessing state-sponsored extortion by some individuals. He said that AAP had given the list of people who are involved in the extortion, but no action was taken against them.
During the press conference, Palekar even telephonically called a Spa Parlour in Panaji city and inquired whether a man can get massage from a woman, which was responded positively by the receiver of the call. Cross massages are banned as per law in the country.
