Advocacy workshop on oral cancer, Ayushman Bharat health scheme held at Pissurlem

Valpoi: An advocacy workshop on Oral Cancer and Ayushman Bharat Health Account was held at Pissurlem industrial estate for the industrial workers.

The staff from Community Health Centre Valpoi Dr. Videsh Jalmi, Community Health Officer Apoorva Asolkal, Premnath Gawas were the key speakers.

Public Health dentist Dr. Videsh Jalmi said that the mouth cancer or Oral Cancer can develop in any parts that make up the mouth or oral cavity, such as the lips, gums, tongue, inner lining of the cheeks, roof of the mouth, and floor of the mouth under the tongue.

Oral cancer or mouth cancer is one of the most common cancers in India. Direct tobacco consumption has been the predominant factor causing oral cancer – consumed in the form of gutka, khaini, cigarettes, bidi, etc. It is a major cause of tumor development in the oral cavity in both the young and adult Indian population.

Speaking on importance of ABHA card, Community Health Officer Apoorva Asolkar said, like how Adhar Card is important, ABHA card will also be mandatory to store all Heath related data of individual digitally.

She furthur said Carrying all your past medical reports while visiting a doctor can be rather cumbersome. It be a lot easier if you have all your medical information stored digitally.

With this in mind, the Government of India launched a digital health ID card called the “Ayushman Bharat Health Account” (ABHA) card. Obtaining an ABHA card can significantly improve your access to medical care. It will help you to find health centres and medical professionals throught online cunsultation and also share your medical records seamlessly with doctors across India. You can also securely save your medical data and grant access to medical professionals as and when needed. Thus, having an ABHA card can improve your overall healthcare experience. Apoorva expressed
