The kayakers set out from the beach near the Keri ferry ramp for Tiracol Fort at 7.45am. They paddled their way out of the Tiracol River into the open sea. A Goa Marine Police inflatable motorboat from the Tiracol Marine Police Station escorted them till the river mouth. Then, the kayakers headed southwards down the coast, past the Keri, Arambol, Mandrem, Ashwem and Morjim beaches, till the Chapora River.

Entry into the Chapora River was extremely difficult, as the full-moon spring tide was flowing out of the river in full mid-cycle ebb. However, thanks to rigorous training, all the kayakers managed to reach the mouth of the river successfully. This was the first trial leg of an ambitious bid to carry out a week-long kayaking expedition to paddle the entire length of the Goa coast later in 2021.
