Panaji: As the strike called by Tourist Taxi unions across the state entered the second day, there has been a massive shift towards app-based service ‘Goa Miles.’
People, specially tourists, are seen shifting to booking their taxi on the app since last two days, with Goa Miles recording four times more bookings than the average.
“The number of trips on Friday were around 3,400 which was thrice then the average. It went to four times more on Saturday. We are getting good response from the customers,” said Parashar Pai Khot, Director (Operations), Goa Miles.
On the other hand, the strike call given by the taxi unions seems to be fading out as many taxis were seen plying on Saturday.
The taxi unions were seen threatening the taxi drivers. Two such instances were videographed and sent to us, one at Karmali railway station and another at Calangute. (We are uploading the video for our readers).
Meanwhile, Chief minister Pramod Sawant has called for a special meeting of industry bodies to get their views on taxi issue later in the evening at his official residence.
