Panaji:Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte on Saturday said that any illegality in the beach belt, including that of illegal constructions by influential persons, will be dealt with firm hand.
Khaunte said that the State government is already started acting against the illegalities by forming Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into the land grabbing and transfers of the land.
The minister said that no one, however influential he may be, would not be spared, if he is involved in illegalities.
Referring to the recent notice issued by Anjuna Gram Panchayat to Singer Mika Singh for his illegal structure on the Beach, Khaunte said that such structures, when found to be illegal, would be demolished.
“It may be Mika Singh or anyone else. Such structures which are found erected illegally would be demolished,” he said.
Khaunte said that the State government has began action against illegalities in the Beach belt including touting or unauthorized massage parlours.
The Tourism minister said that there is prevalence of illegally operating Dance Bars in the coastal area which have become den of prostitution.
Khaunte said that the police department has been asked by the chief minister to take action against these Dance Bars.
The minister conceded that the Police department lacks manpower to patrol the beach areas, due to which there will be a provision made for special tourism police.
Talking about the SIT formed to investigate land grabbing cases, Khaunte said that he has been highlighting this issue for last two-and-half or three years.
“There are at least 50 FIRs related to land grabbing filed in Mapusa police station. There is a syndicate which systematically works in this activity. We have to break the syndicate,” he said.
