Calangute: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Calangute team, during a Facebook live from Viegas Vaddo, Arpora led by AAP Leader Manuel Cardozo and John Fernandes, has said that after AAP’s protest in the locality on 15th September, the government has finally begun road repairs at Viegas Vaddo, Arpora. The leaders said that the ongoing works are a direct result of people’s pressure and AAP’s consistent #BJPCheBurak campaign to fix Calangute’s deteriorating road infrastructure.

AAP Leader Manuel Cardozo said, “After our protest in Calangute last month, the government has finally started repairing the roads. But we will not allow shoddy or temporary patchwork in the name of road repairs. The people of Calangute deserve durable, safe, and properly maintained roads, not another round of patch work before elections.”

AAP Leader John Fernandes added, “Calangute is Goa’s tourism hub and tourist season has already started. When tourists come here and see broken, pothole-ridden roads, it sends the wrong message about state. Goa’s economy depends on tourism, and if the roads in key tourist areas remain in such bad shape, the entire image of Goa suffers.”

The Aam Aadmi Party said it will closely monitor the road works at Arpora and other parts of Calangute to ensure quality, and reiterated that citizens’ pressure and AAP’s campaign are finally forcing the government to act.
