Panaji: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday said that they will abstain from voting for the election of Deputy Speaker’s post.
AAP MLAs Venzy Viegas and Cruz Silva told reporters that they have no idea of who is contesting from the opposition benches for the post of Deputy Speaker.
“No one has contacted us seeking for the support. We don’t know who is contesting the election from opposition side,” Viegas said.
Bharatiya Janata Party and its supporting MLAs have fielded Joshua De Souza as its candidate for the post of Deputy Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly, while Congress has fielded its lone lady MLA Delialah Lobo against him.
When contacted, Lobo said that she will “now consult all the members, convincing them to vote for her.”
“I will consult them now,” she said when asked about the AAP’s decision to abstain from voting.
