Panjim: The Aam Aadmi Party today slammed the Congress leadership after Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao handed over the Guirdolim ZP ticket to BJP leader Sanjay Velip, calling it the clearest proof yet that Congress is functioning as BJP’s junior partner in disguise.
AAP Senior Vice President Prashant Naik said:
“BJP is declaring Congress candidates, and Congress is declaring BJP candidates. This is the only alliance that has truly worked in Goa. Congress and BJP pretend to fight, but on the ground they help each other.”
AAP Working President Gerson Gomes criticised the Congress for repeatedly betraying Goans who want a strong opposition. He said:
“Our decision to go independent has proven right. Congress is not serious — in Curtorim they gave a ticket to someone who campaigned against Capt. Viriato, and now Yuri Alemao has given the Guirdolim seat to a BJP man. Even their own ex-MP Francisco Sardinha was caught speaking against his own party. Goans should not waste their vote on a party that can’t stand on its own feet. Give AAP one chance — let us bring real change to Goa.”
AAP Guirdolim leader Savio Henriques strongly condemned Congress for picking a BJP-imported candidate. He said:
“In Guirdolim, Congress has brought a BJP man and given him the ZP ticket. There are thousands of voters in Cuncolim, but Congress couldn’t find one candidate of their own. This shows Congress is hand-in-hand with the BJP. In Guirdolim, a vote to Congress is a vote to BJP.”
AAP said it will continue exposing the political deal-making between BJP and Congress and urged voters to support an honest and independent alternative that has worked consistently for the people of Goa.
