Panaji: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday met Goa Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai in connection with the money-for-government-jobs scam, demanding that all the recruitment processes be stalled and that an inquiry be initiated through a Judicial Commission.
The AAP delegation, comprising its Goa Unit President Amit Palekar, MLAs Venzy Viegas and Cruz Silva, and others, were present during the meeting with the Governor.
Talking to reporters outside Raj Bhavan, Palekar said that the party has demanded that all current recruitments in the government service be stalled until there is an inquiry through a Judicial Commission.
He also stated that there should be an inquiry into past recruitments, including those for the post of Police Sub Inspector.
Palekar said that the delegation told the Governor that this kind of scam was not possible without the involvement of people in the government. He also mentioned that some office-bearers of the BJP were arrested for duping people under the pretext of providing them with government jobs.
“The BJP has now distanced itself from these accused. Systematically, they are giving explanations, claiming that the accused had resigned prior to the scam,” he said.
Palekar added that he had been raising the issue of the money-for-government-jobs scam for the past eight months. “What I have been saying is now getting exposed as the victims have started coming forward,” he said.
