Panaji: The beach side Carnival at Anjuna beach by foreign nationals in Goa had the message of peace between Russia and Ukraine as its highlight while a group of Ukrainians on Friday held peaceful demonstrations in Panaji in support of their country.
A group of Ukraine nationals on Friday held peaceful demonstrations outside St Mary Immaculation Conception Church in Panaji flashing placards like ‘Stand with Ukraine’, “No War in Ukraine.”
The protestors are part of the tourists who are currently holidaying in the coastal state.
The protests happened a day after a group of Carnival revelers on Thursday participated in the Beach Carnival parade at Anjuna with the placards against the war between Ukraine and the Russia.
The beach carnival parade, which is an annual affair at Anjuna seashore is spearheaded by a group of foreigners.
Holland-based artist Zou Zou, who is the founder of this unique parade said that the foreigners arrived with the placards expressing their sentiments.
“The parade is completely a private affair. We had not stopped anyone from expressing themselves. Along with the fanfare, the participants were also apprehensive about the happenings in the globe,” he said.
