Panaji: Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant on Friday said that the State governmet has put up for auctioning four Iron Ore mining leases in the state.
These are the first lot of leases that would go for auctioning in the coastal state which saw the industry coming to standstill in the year 2018 after the Supreme Court verdict.
Sawant told reporters that the four leases at Bicholim, Sirigao-Mayem and Monte de Sirigao in North Goa and Kalay in South Goa has been put up for auctioning.
The chief minister said that the auctioning is being taken up with the help of SBICORP.
He said that all the rest of the leases would be auctioned in phases. “We have fast tracked the process and we will auction the leases as fast as possible,” he said.
