Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that State’s GST collection has recorded 26 percent deficit.
Addressing press conference, Sawant said that State GST collection has reported 26 percent deficit till now, which would be compensated by Center.
“For next two years, Center will provide us the compensation towards GST collection,” CM said.
Sawant said that most States including Goa has requested Finance Commission to enhance the period of compensation by another three years, till such time that things get stabilized.
When asked whether State will face further deficit due to slashing of GST on hotel rooms, CM responded in negative. “There will be no effect. In fact, it will boost tourism and our revenue collection,” he said.
