Panaji: At least 15 people were saved from drowning and six children who were reported missing on the beaches were re-united with their families during last four days of rush due to Diwali vacation on Goa beaches.
Drishti Marines, a lifesaving agency appointed by the State government, in a statement issued here has said that a string of incidents has occurred on Goa coastaline for past four days in which 15 individuals were rescued and six children who were reported missing were re-united with their parents.
The Agency spokesman said that Baga, one of the busiest beaches on the coast, witnessed the most number of incidents.
“Total eight rescues were carried out at Baga beach. Calangute and Vagator beaches witnessed three rescued each and Galgibag river witnessed a single rescue,” the agency has said.
The spokesman said that besides multiple and double rescues, the lifesavers were alerted to six missing children, each of whom were found and handed over to their respective parents.
