Panaji: Post scrutiny on Friday, total 12 nominations for Lok Sabha seats- North and South Goa and 18 nominations for the by-elections- Mandrem, Shiroda and Mapusa, were declared valid by the election authorities.
Total 14 nominations were rejected by the election officers during the scrutiny process.
The elections are scheduled on April 23. The withdrawals will take place on April 8.
The scrutiny process witnessed high drama in Shiroda Assembly constituency over MGP candidate Deepak Dhavlikar’s nominations. The nomination form was challenged by BJP candidate Subhash Shirodkar and Goa Democratic Labour party candidate Harishchandra Naik on various grounds.
After hearing the parties in detail, the election officer cleared the nomination form of Dhavlikar.
Of the total 44 candidates who filed 73 nominations, only 30 nominations were declared valid.
The nominations of six candidates, each in North and South Goa seat, are in fray as on now
North Goa- Shripad Naik (BJP), Girish Chodankar (INC), Pradeep Padgaonkar (AAP), Aishwarya Salgaonkar (Niz Goenkar Revolutionary Front), Amit Korgaonkar (Republic party of India) and IND Bhagwant Kamat.
South Goa-Narendra Sawaikar (BJP), Francisco Sardinha (INC), Elvis Gomes (AAP), Rakhi Naik (Shiv Sena), Dr Kalidas Vaingankar (Niz Goenkar Revolutionary Front) and IND Mayur Khankonkar.
For by-elections, there are seven candidates in Mapusa, Six in Shiroda and five in Mandrem assembly constituency. The nomination papers of the dummy candidates failed to clear the scrutiny.

Mandrem- Dayanand Sopte (BJP), Babi Bagkar (INC), Swarup Naik (GSM) two IND Jeet Arolkar and Mukti Arolkar
