Panaji: Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly Ramesh Tawadkar on Friday began hearing a final arguments in a disqualification petitions filed against MLAs Digambar Kamat and Michael Lobo.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Amit Patkar has filed disqualification petition against Kamat and Lobo in July, 2022 accusing them of conspiring to split the congress party and voluntarily giving up the membership of the party.
Both the MLAs were part of the Congress Legislative Party when disqualificaaiton petition was filed but had later joined BJP along with six others.
Patkar said that the Speaker has began hearing the final arguments in the disqualification petitions. “Both the respondents have taken the objection that GPCC President cannot file the disqualification petition,” he said.
Patkar said that the arguments will continue on March 23.
