Panaji: Goa government on Wednesday deferred its scheduled re-opening of the schools to further date vis-à-vis fresh guidleines by Union Ministry of Home Affairs.

Director of Education Vandana Rao, in a circular issued on June 03, has said that the department had communicated to the schools about reopening for the academic year.

“However, due to the guidelines issued by the MHA on May 30 in view of COVID-19 pandemic situation, the same is deferred and no student will be permitted in the schools, coaching classes etc,” she said.

The Director has said that the fresh dates for re-opening of the schools will be communicated shortly after consultation with the stakeholders as per the MHA guidelines and “in lines with further guidelines to be issued by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Ministry of Human Resource Development.”

“During this time before the reopening, the schools are advised to support their students in every possible way making the best use of technology,” the guidelines read.

“The training imparted by the Directorate in collaboration with State Council of Education Research and Training may be put to the best possible use to conduct online classes wherever possible,” she said.
