Calangute: BJP’s one of the most vocal MLA and Deputy Speaker Michael Lobo is averse to get his position upgraded to the Speaker as it will curtail his freedom to raise public issues.
Lobo would be the officiating Speaker tomorrow, if Governor orders floor test for Pramod Sawant led government. But he does not want to occupy that chair permanently.
“I have been one of the most vocal MLA. I have raised several issues on the floor of the House and outside. Once I become speaker, I will have to toe the line of government blindly, which I don’t want to,” he said.
Lobo also said that “no one has approached me with the offer of Speaker’s post, and even if someone comes, I will refuse.”
