Fatorda: Goa Forward Party Chief Vijai Sardesai today said that his party is with the coalition government during upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly by-elections as they don’t face dilemmas faced by another partner MGP.
Sardesai was referring to MGP’s stand of contesting Shiroda by-election by fielding their president Dipak Dhavalikar.
“To our good luck and credit to the decision making that our party has, we are not in dilemma like our other alliance partner, that is MGP which is contesting in (shiroda) constituency against coalition partner,” Sardesai told reporters at Fatorda.
He said that MGP will also have to take stand in Lok Sabha due to which they are facing predicament, which GFP is not facing.
Sardesai said that BJP has a “benefit of not being disturbed regularly by GFP.”
“At the moment, BJP enjoys our support and as a result of which they don’t have to face constant disturbance, which they have to face from MGP’s side,” he said.
Sardesai said that GFP is well aware that they are not active in the current situation as they are not contesting any of the upcoming seats.
“We know that whatever we speak we do. At the same time when we are not active in any of the situation, I don’t think we need to be shy or afraid to accept that the present political situation in Goa and emerging political situation vis-a-vis by election and Lok Sabha election, does not actively involve us,” Sardesai said.
The GFP President said that this is the first Lok Sabha election, since the party was formed. “For us, it is one of the milestone. Our party was the first party which is actually a regionalistic party. The agenda was that we espouse Goem, Goemkar and Goemkarponn. We made it as a centre to the political discourse that is why we had success strike rate in last assembly election,” he said.
Sardesai said that GFP will not contest Lok Sabha or upcoming by-elections. “We are in alliance with BJP and we are members of NDA,” he said.
He said that GFP is prepared to fight the election in Goa any time because the party is rooted to the ground.
